Bay Breeze Cocktail Ingredients:
This is a very simple drink to make. Put the cocktail shaker away. Fill a glass with ice and pour your ingredients in. Garnish and serve.
Ingredient Notes:
Below I have listed several ways to make your own version. Let us know your favorite way to enjoy this vodka drink.
By simply choosing unsweetened, lightly sweetened or heavily sweetened fruit juices you can change the whole flavor profile of this recipe.
- Various Cranberry juices and blends have different sugar contents. That definitely impacts the flavor. We used Ocean Spray cranberry juice.
- Pineapple juice brings in the Hawaiian Sea Breeze tropical taste. Also available in different sweetnesses and blends.
- Exchange the pineapple juice for grapefruit juice and now you have a Sea Breeze.
- The Bay Breeze has the Cape Codder cocktail as its base which is just vodka and cranberry juice.
- Replace the Vodka with Malibu Rum to really get the Island feel going.
The Vodka:
This drink is called a cheap drink because you can get away with cheap vodka.
Put the good stuff away for this one. The juices cover up the vodka anyway so you want to focus more on the vodka proof. Make sure you get the kick you prefer.
We chose Absolut Vodka. It is a good vodka for the price. Smirnoff is also a good choice and less expensive. Use what you have on hand.
Garnish Ideas:
- We used a lime wheel and bright red cherry to accent the color layers in this Drink.
- Pineapple wedge.
- Mint leaves.
- A long cocktail pick of various fruits.
The Glass:
We chose a Hurricane Glass for the tiki vibe. If you don’t have one handy make this in a Highball glass like this one linked.
You want a tall glass large enough to handle some ice cubes with the drink.
Layering this Vodka Cocktail:
TIP: To make the drink in layers as you see pictured pay attention to the sugar content of those fruit juices.
TIPS:
- Use sugar free cranberry juice has only 1 gram of sugar. This one floats really well over pineapple juice.
- 100 % Pineapple juice has 23 grams of sugar.
- The regular ocean spray cranberry juice has 36 grams of sugar. Use this one if you enjoy a sweet drink and don’t care about layering.
The bottom layer will have the heaviest sugary juice. Two equal sugars (or close to it) will not layer.
