This Baked Brie is always very popular at gatherings. Topped with Kahlua and brown sugar glazed pecans.
Baked Brie with Glazed pecans served with crackers and green apples. This is the easiest appetizer and can be put together right before leaving for a party or before guests arrive. The brie bakes in the oven and the kahlua pecans cook in a small pan on the stovetop. One of the easiest and tastiest appetizers.
This is one of my favorite appetizers. The delicious melted brie served with the glazed pecans is just so good!
What can be substituted for the Kahlua in this glaze?
If you’re looking for a substitute for Kahlua in a pecan glaze, here are a few alternatives depending on your preference:
- Coffee Liqueur Substitute:
- Homemade Coffee Syrup: Mix strong brewed coffee with sugar to create a syrupy consistency. This will give you the coffee flavor without the alcohol.
- Espresso or Strong Coffee: Use a small amount of brewed espresso or strong coffee to mimic the coffee flavor.
- Non-Alcoholic Flavored Substitutes:
- Vanilla Extract: A splash of vanilla extract can add depth of flavor without the coffee notes.
- Maple Syrup: Adds sweetness and a rich, earthy flavor that complements pecans.
- Other Liqueurs:
- Amaretto: For a nutty flavor that pairs well with pecans.
- Baileys Irish Cream: Adds a creamy sweetness with a slight coffee undertone.
These substitutes can help you achieve a similar flavor profile or bring a new twist to your pecan glaze.
Is the rind on Brie cheese edible? And do you need to remove it before baking?
Yes, the rind on Brie cheese is edible! The rind is made of white mold (Penicillium candidum), which gives Brie its characteristic flavor and texture. It’s soft, slightly fuzzy, and adds a subtle earthy taste to the cheese.
When baking Brie, you do not need to remove the rind. In fact, keeping the rind intact helps the cheese hold its shape as it melts, preventing it from oozing out too much. The rind also adds a nice contrast to the creamy interior when you cut into the baked Brie.
So, feel free to bake the Brie with the rind on, and enjoy the combination of textures and flavors!
For this recipe, I like to scrape some of the thickness off the top. That seems to help with scooping the melted cheese out. Make sure you do not scrape any of the sides off or the cheese will spill out of the Brie wheel.
