- 8 Cups water (or broth)
- 1 Tablespoon oil

You REALLY should use the cooking liquid. It is now a bean broth full of rich flavor and nutrients. You want this in your recipe if possible.
You can also save it (freeze it if you like) and use the bean broth for soups, sauces and stews. It's very good.
