Pull Apart Bread Wreath With Baked spinach Dip:

This recipe is a fast and easy appetizer that is best served hot. It only takes about 15 minutes to put together. You can make it up several hours ahead of your event. Then bake it just ahead of serving.

Tips:

  1. To make this recipe the easiest, choose a flaky 8 count package of refrigerator rolls like this one.

The layers of flaky dough split apart easily. For this recipe that’s going to save you extra minutes of prep. You need to divide the 8 biscuits into halves for the 16 rolls you need.

After you split the biscuits. you’ll flatten them and form them into balls and set them around the perimeter of your skillet.

It all takes just a minute if you choose the flaky layered biscuits. 🙂

2. Defrost the spinach ahead at room temperature or set the frozen block on low heat in a pan on your stove and allow it to gently defrost. Microwave is not recommended for defrosting frozen spinach for this recipe.

3. Use a heavy skillet of cast iron or equivalent to bake and serve this appetizer. the pan should be oiled if you are worried about sticking.

4. This is a basic spice profile that is universally popular. Feel free to jazz up the dip and rolls with red pepper flakes and other interesting spices to please the crowd at your event.

Below is our printable recipe with pictures and a demonstration video at the bottom of the card for you. If you print the recipe out the picture will not print. This is to save you paper and ink.

What if you don't own a skillet that can go in the oven? Is there an alternative pan that works, such as a cake pan?

Hi Jody, This recipe will work well in any comparably sized casserole dish. But you do need an oven proof dish for the baking. Happy Holidays!

Do you squeeze out the water from the frozen spinach before you add to the remaining ingredients?

Great Question! Thanks for bringing this up. As the spinach defrosts it will drain and lose most of the excess moisture. You want to allow that moisture to escape so it is not in the mix. You can lightly squeeze even more moisture out if you want. I have rewritten then recipe instructions to make this more clear. Thanks again for bringing this up and have a great day!
