Is Tequila Healthy?
Did you know? A lot of interesting health claims about tequila’s health benefits are circling around out there.
Don’t be fooled. Drinking Tequila is not health food 🙂
However, Tequila does contain agave. So it might offer you a bit of the plant benefits.
The Agave plant has some digestive benefits, it is a probiotic and can help regulate blood sugar. Agave improves absorption of calcium and magnesium.
But not all of these benefits will survive the process of turning agave into tequila.
Other health benefits attributed to tequila… most alcohols can claim. For example.
Remember those old westerns where the gunshot hero always drank a shot of whiskey and bit a piece of wood while he manfully endured ? Yeah tequila will work for numbing pain too.
A shot of tequila can calm you down and help you sleep, just like other booze… but don’t get used to alcohol as a sleep aid. Danger lies that way.
Confirmed Health Benefits of Tequila:
- Tequila is zero carb.
- Tequila is Gluten free.
- Tequila is fat free.
- Tequila is a lower calorie choice of spirit than some others.
Of course, the recipe you use tequila in has a lot to do with the nutritional profile of your drink. We have lots of tequila drinks in our cocktail section.
